Please be gentle! This is my first tutorial, and since I've never done this before, there will be mistakes.
In any case, after scrounging around the internet for at least a month, I've been unable to find a really good tutorial on how to do a ball joint doll's faceup, for, you know, BEGINNERS.
I've been to a BJD panel at an anime convention, and while it was informative, it still didn't go in depth as much as it could have.
So...if you have any questions, feel free to ask! However, I probably won't know as much as a more experienced doll owner. But, as I get more and more into customizing my own dolls, I'll be sure and make more tutorials so beginners like me can do our own customizing without reading so many contradicting tutorials that aren't exactly for beginners~!
The doll head used here is from my ResinSoul Long 70cm model doll, so he's one of the bigger BJDs out there (I saw a 1/2 scale model when I got my doll, and it was HUGE!) But the tutorial should be able to work for most dolls.
another tip is that while the MSC is drying its good to cover the head by placing something over it, like a box to prevent any dust on the head, this is a big help for me ^__^
Nice tutorial! I'm buying the items to do my first BJD Face-up and I was wondering is there any other sealant I can use! I heard it can only be water based so I went to several stores (Walmart) and I couldn't find a water based sealant. Now I was looking on the internet and I cant find a reliable store that sells Mr. Super Clear and ships it to where I live (Puerto Rico) So is there ANY other sealant I can use?
I can't say for sure, and don't quote me on this, but I would try and suggest the sealant sprays used for model cars, maybe? ^^U I honestly couldn't say.
If you can find the equivalent of a sealant spray, go right ahead. Mr Super Clear Spray is what doll makers use when doing the faceup. I had to special order Mr Super Clear because, frankly, there were no sealant sprays I could use in the stores I went to.
If you want to use an alternative, research VERY thoroughly about which sprays you can, or can't, use.
this is a big help for me ^__^
if so whats the reason
